Last week of September 1999 I went to Croatia for my study. Here are some photo's I took with a small description.

Croatia is an independent nation, formerly a constituent republic of Yugoslavia. Throughout a great part of history, Croatia was unified with Hungary while maintaining ties with the Austrian Empire. However, it never lost its national identity, and it preserved a strong native culture. In 1990, the first free postwar elections resulted in the introduction of a parliamentary democracy. In 1991, it was followed by Croatia's Declaration of Independence.

I stayed in a small town called Slatina. The pictures on this page are taken in the region of Slatina, except for the three pictures of Zagreb. All pictures are taken by me. Click here for pictures taken by my project partner

This is a nice organised farm, clean and well maintained. This farmer can keep up to 5 cows.

A damaged building. Not useable for farming, eventough the Croatians had an other opinion about that.

I am doing my statue immitation in this damaged barn. I had the idea that one single sneeze was enough to destroy this building.

Damage to this building because of the civil war

A view of the enviroment

This is the house we stayed in. It's located in Slatina (Podravska), which is approx. a 2,5 hour drive east from Zagreb

We spend just 4 hours in Zagreb. This is the National Theater.

Very nice church
